Cookie Policy

Our current cookie use
IG Viewer does not set tracking or advertising cookies, and does not use third-party analytics scripts that rely on cookies. You can use the story and profile lookup tool without any cookie being placed on your device for that purpose. This matches what our Privacy Policy already states about not tracking visitors.
Essential vs. non-essential
If this ever changes — for example, if we add basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic, or a preference cookie to remember a setting like dark mode — we categorize any such use as follows before adding it:
- Essential: strictly necessary for the site to function (e.g. a session token needed to complete a request). These don't require consent under most cookie-law frameworks, but we'll still disclose them here.
- Non-essential: anything used for analytics, preferences, or personalization. We will not set these until you've had the chance to accept or decline, and this page will be updated first to describe exactly what's set, by whom, and for how long.
Local storage and your browser
Separately from cookies, your browser's own local storage may be used for lightweight, non-tracking purposes such as remembering a UI preference (like whether you've dismissed a banner) entirely on your device — this data never leaves your browser and is not sent to our servers.
How to control cookies
Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings menu (usually under Privacy or Security). Blocking all cookies site-wide in your browser will not prevent you from using IG Viewer's lookup tool, since it doesn't depend on cookies today.
Changes to this policy
If our cookie usage changes, this page will be updated with the specifics before any new cookie is set, along with an updated "last updated" date above.
